About this quiz
Radio waves, light and X-rays are all the same thing: electromagnetic waves. They differ only in wavelength, which runs from very long radio waves to very short gamma rays.
- Visible light is the only part of the spectrum our eyes can see.
- Infrared sits just beyond the red end of visible light, and ultraviolet just beyond the violet end.
- The shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency and the energy.

Note on the data. The seven regions and their order from longest to shortest wavelength follow NASA's Tour of the Electromagnetic Spectrum, checked on 3 October 2026.
