About this quiz
Blood types combine the ABO group (A, B, AB or O) with the Rh D factor (positive or negative), giving eight main types. A transfusion must avoid antigens that the patient's own antibodies would attack.
- Group A blood has A antigens and anti-B antibodies; group B is the reverse.
- Group AB has both antigens and neither antibody; group O has neither antigen and both antibodies.
- Positive or negative refers to whether the Rh D antigen is present.
