About this quiz
A sorting round built on the list behind Ribbia's US state capitals quiz: 50 entries in 4 groups. A miss never passes in silence: the right group is shown before the next entry.
- The South is the largest region with 16 states; the Northeast has 9.
- Delaware and Maryland are in the South, which catches many people out.

Note on the data. Entries and groups are read from that quiz, row for row. The 50 capitals were checked on 3 October 2026 against the list of states and capitals in the archived White House page held by the National Archives (which misspells Tallahassee). Regions follow the Census Bureau's map of regions and divisions; the District of Columbia is in the South region there but is not a state, so it is left out.
