About this quiz
Every character a computer can show has an official name in the Unicode Standard, and many of them are not the names people use. The full stop is the period to Americans, the slash is a solidus and the underscore is a low line.
- The pilcrow (¶) marks a new paragraph, and the section sign (§) a numbered section of a law or a document.
- The interrobang (‽) is a question mark and an exclamation mark in one.
- The keyboard hyphen is officially the hyphen-minus, because it has to do the work of both.
- Each mark shows its Unicode code point under it, written U+ and four hexadecimal digits.
