About this quiz
English plurals are irregular in a handful of ways: old plurals such as oxen and geese, words that never change, Latin and Greek endings, and compound nouns where the s goes in the middle.
- Sheep, aircraft and species are the same in the singular and the plural.
- In compounds such as mother-in-law and passer-by, the main noun takes the s.
- Crisis, hypothesis and analysis all swap sis for ses.
