About this quiz
The Moon is always half lit by the Sun. Its phases are how much of that lit half we can see from Earth as the Moon moves around its orbit.
- Waxing means the visible lit part is growing; waning means it is shrinking.
- A first quarter Moon rises around midday and sets around midnight.
- The last quarter is also called the third quarter.
- A full Moon rises at about sunset.
