Every name on the board is a real unit of the National Park System, shown without its designation. The decoys are national monuments, national seashores and national recreation areas.

Note on the data. The 63 national parks and their states are those on the National Park Service's list of the units of the National Park System, read on 3 October 2026. Only units designated National Park count: national monuments, preserves, seashores and recreation areas are other kinds of unit. The decoys are the Service's ten national seashores, its national recreation areas and 25 of its national monuments drawn by a fixed seed; the code checks that none shares a name with a national park.
