About this quiz
The mammals on this board are the ones that do not look the part: they live in the sea, fly at night, carry their young in a pouch or lay eggs. The mines are animals that share their waters.
- The whale shark is a fish; the killer whale is a mammal, and in fact a dolphin.
- Penguins are birds, and sea turtles are reptiles.
- The buttons are in A to Z order.
Sources
- [1]Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS). ITIS taxonomic database.
Note on the data. A button is valid when ITIS files the species in the class Mammalia. Each scientific name was looked up in the Integrated Taxonomic Information System on 3 October 2026 and is the valid name there; the class, order and family are the ranks ITIS files it under, and the common names are ones ITIS lists.
