  • The labels on the left stay put. Tap a tile, then another, to swap them.
  • Check marks every row at once. Right rows lock; the rest can be moved again.
  • Keyboard: Tab to a tile and press Enter to pick it, or use a tile's arrow buttons to move it one row.
  • Pause whenever you like (Esc). The board hides while the clock is stopped.

Put each name beside its scrambled letters. The board appears when you start.

About this quiz

The names are the eight planets, read from a list Ribbia already holds. Every scramble uses exactly the letters of its name.

  • A check marks every row at once. Right rows lock in green and the rest can be moved again.
  • You have three checks, so the first can be a rough sort and the last a careful one.
  • Counting letters is a fair shortcut: a seven letter scramble needs a seven letter name.

Sources

  1. [1]NASA. Planetary Fact Sheet (metric).

Note on the data. Average distances from the Sun (the semi major axis) are taken from NASA's Planetary Fact Sheet, in millions of kilometres. The scrambles are made from the names by a fixed shuffle, and a test checks that each uses exactly the letters of its name and that no two names share the same letters.
