About this quiz
Moons are being discovered all the time, especially around the giant planets, so counts change. The answers here are the ones that do not.
- Mercury and Venus are the only planets with no moons.
- Ganymede is larger than the planet Mercury.
- Phobos is slowly spiralling towards Mars.
- Pluto, a dwarf planet, has five known moons; the largest is Charon.

Note on the data. Every answer was checked against NASA's moon pages on 3 October 2026. Questions avoid exact moon counts for the giant planets, which keep changing as new moons are confirmed.
