- Pick a cell and type its team. Every cell you solve shows a new clue about other cells.
- Cells are named like chess squares: the letter is the column, the number is the row.
- Not sure yet? Add a name to a cell as a note. Notes are never checked and never cost a strike.
- Keyboard: Alt and an arrow key moves between cells, Enter answers, Shift and Enter adds a note.
- Pause whenever you like (Esc). The board hides while the clock is stopped.
Work out the team in every cell from the clues. The grid appears when you start.
About this quiz
Thirty two teams, one grid. Each clue places a cell by conference, division, country, Stanley Cups won or when the franchise joined the league, and only one arrangement fits.
- Any of the 32 NHL teams could be in a cell, and no answer appears twice.
- A franchise keeps its Cups and its first season when it moves or changes its name.
- Cups count from the NHL's first season, 1917/18.
- No clue says when the Winnipeg Jets joined: the NHL's records count the first Jets of 1979 towards today's club, which began in Atlanta in 1999.
