About this quiz

The titles are every Booker Prize winner since 1969 and every Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winner since 1980. The author under each title is what tells The Sea from The Sea, the Sea.

  • Two Booker winners open with the same two words: John Banville's The Sea (2005) and Iris Murdoch's The Sea, the Sea (1978).
  • A few one word titles are in the pool on purpose: for those, the very first press has to be Stop.
  • The year is the year the prize was awarded.
