About this quiz

The Holy See numbers these popes 258 to 267. The order covers a little over a century, from 1914 to the election of Leo XIV in May 2025.

  • Three of the ten were pope in 1978: Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II.
  • John Paul II's pontificate, 1978 to 2005, is the longest of the ten.
  • Marking follows the longest run of popes in the right order.
