About this quiz
Only formal declarations of war by Congress count. Since the Second World War, Congress has passed resolutions authorising the use of military force instead.
- The last declarations were against Bulgaria, Hungary and Rumania on 4 June 1942.
- Six of the eleven declarations were made during the Second World War.
- Countries are named as the declarations named them: Rumania is today's Romania, which is accepted.

Note on the data. The eleven declarations, the country each names, the date of the Senate vote and the war are those of the Senate Historical Office's page on declarations of war, read on 3 October 2026. Romania, Britain and the United Kingdom are accepted for the names used then.
