About this quiz
Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Populations are United Nations estimates for mid 2025 and areas are total surface area for 2023.
- You get two tries at each country. After a second miss the answer is shown with its capital.
- The bank holds the 15 countries of the round and nothing else, so the last few can be worked out by elimination.
- Left out for want of an official figure: Kosovo, Vatican City.
- Each round draws 15 of 45 countries; the first round of the day is the same for everyone.

Note on the data. Clues are computed from Ribbia's shared country list: capitals from the US Department of State list of independent states, populations from the United Nations Statistical Yearbook table (mid 2025 estimates, November 2025 release) and areas from Table 3 of the United Nations Demographic Yearbook 2023, all read on 3 October 2026. Countries with no figure in those tables are left out rather than estimated.
