About this quiz

Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Questions about states use the 50 US states. The order of the questions changes every day and is the same for everyone that day.

  • When the six seconds run out the question is passed, an example answer is shown and the next question appears.
  • A wrong answer costs nothing: keep typing until the clock for that question runs out.
  • Continents follow the rest of the site: Russia and Turkey count as Europe, Egypt as Africa, and Central America and the Caribbean as North America.

  2. [2]United Nations. Non-member States.
  3. [3]United Nations Statistics Division. Standard country or area codes for statistical use (M49).
  4. [4]US Census Bureau. ANSI codes for states.

Note on the data. Countries, their continents and the 50 states are Ribbia's shared lists, checked on 3 October 2026 against the United Nations member and observer lists, the M49 regions and the Census Bureau's state code list. Every question's accepted answers are computed from those lists: each country or state that fits is accepted.
