Scoring
The tiles still shut when you name it
  • Type any capital on the list to open a tile. A full name counts the moment it is typed.
  • Name what the picture shows to win the round. A wrong guess opens one tile, like any other answer.
  • Text that is not on the list opens nothing and costs only time.
  • Pause whenever you like (Esc). The board hides while the clock is stopped.

Type any European capital to open a tile. Name the capital of the highlighted country. The picture appears, covered, when you start.

Drawing the map

About this quiz

Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. 47 of them are in Europe. 6 countries are too small on this map to make a picture, so they are never the hidden one, though typing them still opens a tile.

  • The picture is the country on the map of Europe, tinted, with its neighbours and coast around it. It is never a photograph of the city.
  • Where a country has more than one capital, any of them counts.
  • The tiles open in an order shuffled for each picture, so no answer always opens the same corner.
  • A round scores the tiles still shut when you name the picture. A wrong guess opens one tile, the same as any other answer, and text that is not on the list costs nothing.
  • A play is 5 pictures. The first play of each day is the same 5 for everyone; play again for a fresh set.
