About this quiz
Every reign since the Norman Conquest, clicked newest first. The board is alphabetical and never moves, and the next monarch is never named.
- Going backwards, Edward IV comes straight after Edward V and before Henry VI, as Edward first took the throne in 1461.
- There was no monarch from 1649 to 1660, so Charles II follows Charles I going backwards.
- Lady Jane Grey comes between Mary I and Edward VI.

Note on the data. Reigns and royal houses are those of Ribbia's quiz on the English and British monarchs, which follows the Royal Household's list of Kings and Queens from 1066 (read on 3 October 2026), with Lancaster and York as branches of the Plantagenets and George V under Windsor. The order is the reverse of each monarch's first accession.
