About this quiz
Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Spaces and punctuation are ignored when the last three letters are taken, so a two word name is clued by the end of its last word.
- 18 of the 197 countries start with M.
- Where two countries share an ending, the rows are numbered in A to Z order.
- The longest name on this board is Marshall Islands.
- The rows come up in a different order each day.

Note on the data. The list is every country in Ribbia's shared set of 197 whose common English name begins with M: the 193 United Nations member states, checked against the United Nations list on 3 October 2026, plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Names are the common English short forms rather than the formal names on that list, with formal and historic names accepted. The endings are computed in code and the tests recompute them.
