About this quiz

Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. This quiz takes the countries of the Americas whose highest point has a name, stands at least 1,000 m high and belongs to that country alone.

  • The highest peak asked is Cerro Aconcagua, 6,962 m.
  • A summit on a border, shared by two countries, is left out, and so is a peak named after its country.
  • Countries that span two continents, such as Russia and Turkey, are not asked.
  • Names are spelled as in the list they come from, so some carry their local form.
  • The first round of each day is the same for everyone; after that every round is a fresh draw. You can also play all of them in one run.

  1. [1]Central Intelligence Agency. The World Factbook, 2025 edition: Elevation (archived copy of the agency's page).

Note on the data. Names and heights of highest points are those of the CIA World Factbook's Elevation field in its last (2025) edition, read on 3 October 2026 from the archived copy of the agency's own page and parsed by script. Spellings are the Factbook's. A peak is asked when it is at least 1,000 m high, its name does not contain the country's, and no other country has a highest point of the same name or the same height. Countries that span two continents are left out.
