About this quiz
Ribbia counts 197 countries: the 193 members of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. These are the ones with no land boundary at all. Cuba and Cyprus are left out, because each has a foreign base on its soil that some count as a border.
- Australia is by far the largest country with no land border.
- Island countries that share an island are not here: Ireland, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Brunei and Malaysia all have a neighbour.
- South America is the only continent with none.

Note on the data. Land borders, land boundary lengths, coastlines and highest points are those of the CIA World Factbook in its last (2025) edition, read on 3 October 2026 from the archived copies of the agency's own field pages, parsed by script and checked to be symmetric. A border through a dependency (French Guiana, Gibraltar, Greenland, Ceuta and Melilla) or one that depends on a disputed status (Kosovo, Palestine, Western Sahara, the Golan Heights) is on a doubtful list and is never asked. A country is listed when the Factbook gives it no border country and it is in no doubtful pair.
