About this quiz
The NFL held its first draft on 8 February 1936, and the Philadelphia Eagles opened it by choosing Jay Berwanger of Chicago. These are the colleges of the first pick in each of the 31 drafts up to 1966.
- Notre Dame produced four first overall picks in this period: in 1944, 1946, 1950 and 1957.
- Georgia produced three: Frank Sinkwich in 1943, Charley Trippi in 1945 and Harry Babcock in 1953.
- From 1947 to 1958 the first selection was a bonus pick, awarded to the winner of a random draw.
- The AFL held its own drafts from 1960 to 1966; only the NFL's first picks are on this board.
