About this quiz
Element names come from gods, places, people, colours and properties. The fakes here borrow the same patterns, so a familiar ending proves nothing.
- Helium is named after the Greek word for the Sun, helios.
- Mercury is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature and standard pressure.
- Tungsten has the highest melting point of any metal.
- Several real elements end in on or ine rather than ium, such as argon and iodine.
